When my good friend Linda first messaged me about doing a boudoir session, she had one specific request – she wanted to shoot somewhere pink. Not just a little pink accent here and there, but full-on, unapologetically PINK. I immediately knew we were going to create something fun, whimsical and a little crazy together because Linda wasn’t asking for safe or subtle – she wanted bold, and she wanted it to reflect exactly who she is. Knowing Linda’s unique and quirky personality, and her love for all things kitschy, I knew we couldn’t make this shoot work in some basic hotel.

But what I didn’t know at first was the significance of that bold request. Linda traveled all the way from Mexico City for this session, and during our initial video call, she explained that she’d been thinking about doing a boudoir session for months but kept putting it off. When she finally decided she was ready to celebrate herself exactly as she is, right in that moment, she wanted to do it in a way that felt completely, unapologetically her – which meant going all-in on pink.

When Pink Boudoir Photography Meets Bold Confidence: Linda’s Vision

I feel like this pink boudoir photography session shows a beautiful progression from “what have I gotten myself into” to “this is the REAL me”, which is something I LOVE being able to provide clients. But creating that transformation isn’t magic – it’s about reading the room, matching the energy, and knowing exactly when to crack a joke or when to offer gentle encouragement.

With Linda, although she overflows with confidence, I could sense she needed time to settle in, so I started by chatting about her travels from Mexico City while she got comfortable in the space. I put on music that matched the playful pink vibe we were going for, and we spent the first twenty minutes just laughing about how wonderfully ridiculous and perfect this whole setup was.

As a photographer, my job extends far beyond only capturing beautiful images. I’ll always be the biggest cheerleader, the best hype woman, and sometimes the eye-watering comedic relief all rolled into one. I’m the one telling you how gorgeous you look when you feel awkwardness creeping in, suggesting that perfect pose adjustment that makes all the difference, and yes, making completely ridiculous comments to get those authentic, reach-the-eyes-smiles.

What I witnessed during Linda’s session is what happens when someone feels truly seen and celebrated. She went from carefully testing poses to completely owning every single moment, and that confidence blasts through every single frame. And that is really why I do this work – not just to take pretty pictures, but to create an experience where you remember how it feels to be absolutely yourself.

I have to admit, when we first walked into that pink kitchen, even I was a little overwhelmed by how perfectly it suited Linda. The bright coral walls, the pink appliances, the way the light bounced around creating this warm, dreamy (dare I say Barbie-like) atmosphere – it did really feel like the space was designed specifically for her. The kitchen scene was actually something I’d been thinking about and planning for a while, and Linda was absolutely the perfect person to help me execute this vision. We even bought cereal specifically for the shoot – because if you’re going to commit to a concept, you go all the way.

What made this part of the session so special was watching Linda discover how comfortable she could be in her own skin. I loved how her red cowboy boots from Montserrat Messeguer – a fellow FIT grad and Mexico City designer – added this perfect unexpected element that was so uniquely Linda. The kitchen shots capture Linda at her most playful and confident, proving that sometimes the most unexpected locations make for the most memorable images.
