To me, there’s always been something fleeting about an engagement period. You’ve taken the leap (asked or said yes) and suddenly you’re in this liminal hallway of marriage, rushing toward the big day while juggling plans, checklists, and timelines. In the middle of all that, it’s so easy to forget to just stop, stand still, and soak it all in. Without sounding like a kitchen-plaque cliché, I’ve always felt like life passes slowly… until it doesn’t. That’s why engagement photos matter so much: they freeze that in-between time, that once-in-a-lifetime season, with your once-in-a-lifetime person.
Holly and Emere’s London engagement session was the ideal example of why commemorating these moments is so important. Holly’s from Florida, Emere’s from Turkey, and they met in New York City. London was just one chapter in their shared story, one Holly had always dreamed of, and one that Emere made possible for her. But it was fleeting. They were already preparing to leave, which gave this session a distinct weight and tenderness as the couple geared up for their big move.
We wandered their neighborhood, laughed way too much (they’re hilarious, truly), and ended with wine in their incredible apartment. At one point, as they cuddled at the table, there may have been a couple of tears shed while reminiscing on the times spent in their London home. It was exactly the kind of moment I dream my couples have during a session. It goes so beyond just posing for the camera, and really sinking into their relationship, and everything that’s brought them to now.
Now they’re living elsewhere, and London has become another chapter in their story, these photos are even more special. They’re a direct path back to that fleeting season and a reminder of how much Holly and Emere loved their home in London. Not to mention how much they loved right there in that moment just after getting engaged, before it all moved on.

The small details of this London engagement photoshoot stick with me: the fact that Emere would take the bus home at night and Holly would watch from their window as it pulled up. Or that Holly could probably hold the record for longest legs in America, and for once, at six feet tall myself, I felt like the short one. We joked endlessly, three giants laughing our way through London, and somehow the whole day felt equal parts lighthearted and deeply moving.

Finding Romance in Every Raindrop
We started our adventure wandering through those gorgeous London streets, but, first I have to talk about how standing next to Holly and Emere made me feel like such a pipsqueak, but as many shorter photographers have learned before me – sometimes you see the world differently from down here (and yes, I definitely stood on things when needed) and it can make all the difference.
The rain had been lightly drizzling on and off (because it’s London, and of course it did), but instead of running for cover, these two just grabbed an umbrella and turned the whole thing into this romantic dance down the wet cobblestone streets. The way Emere pulled Holly close under that umbrella while London’s classical architecture watched over them? Pure magic. Those white Georgian houses with their perfect front gardens became the backdrop for something that felt completely unscripted, filled with movement and beautifully authentic.

Commemorating Love at Home Before a Big Move
After dancing through London rain, we headed to their apartment, and that’s when I watched something beautiful happen. You know that feeling when you kick off your shoes and sink into your own couch? Easy relaxation that you never have to think of – exactly what I witnessed. Holly and Emere just melted into being themselves. The wine came out, the real laughs started flowing, which meant that I could barely catch my breath from wheezing so hard at their jokes (god, I love it when clients are genuinely funny – not a requirement, but definitely a love of mine).
There’s something about photographing someone in their own space that just opens everything up. The way Holly curled up by the window with rainy light hitting her face, how Emere leaned against the kitchen counter like he belonged there (because he did) – moments like this remind me why I never get tired of this job.
Finding The Quiet Spaces and Big Laughs
What really gets me about Holly and Emere’s London engagement photos is how they reminded me why I fell in love with being a London engagement photographer in the first place. It’s not just about getting pretty pictures (although we definitely got those) – it’s about capturing the way you look at each other when you think no one’s watching, the inside jokes that make you both crack up, the quiet moments where you’re just genuinely happy to be together.
Whether we were wandering through those picture-perfect London streets or sitting by their apartment window watching the city pass by, every frame of their engagement photos London style felt like a little love letter to this fleeting, beautiful time in their lives.
